This specimen was part of lot 30946 in Heritage sale 3081 (New York, January 2020), which sold for $3,840. The catalog description[1] noted, "Iran: Muhammed Reza Pahlavi 9-Piece Uncertified gold & silver Proof Set SH 1350 (1971), 1) 25 Rials; 2) 50 Rials; 3) 75 Rials; 4) 100 Rials; 5) 200 Rials, KM 1188; 6) gold 500 Rials, KM 1189; 7) gold 750 Rials, KM 1190; 8) gold 1000 Rials, KM 1191.1; 9) gold 2000 Rials, KM 1192; . A sharp set struck for the 2,500th year of Iranian monarchy. Sold with original case of issue. Total AGW approx. 1.60 oz." This commemorative, honoring the 2500th anniversary of the Persian Empire, is accompanied by silver 25, 50, 75 and 200 rials (KM 1184-1188) and gold 500, 750, 1000 and 2000 rials (KM 1189, KM 1190, KM 1191, KM 1192). The megalomaniac shah did not do anything small.
