Sincona sale 43, lot 3018

This specimen was lot 3018 in Sincona sale 43 (Zürich, October 2017), where it sold for 1,500 CHF (aboout US$1,790 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Stände von Böhmen und Mähren, 1619-1620 Kipper-12 Kreuzer 1619. Joachimsthal. Gutes vorzüglich. (Estates of Bohemia-Moravia, 1619-20, kipper twelve kreuzer of 619, Joachimsthal mint. Good extremely fine.)"

Kipper twelve kreuzer were struck at Kuttenberg and Joachimsthal (shown here) for the Protestant Frederick V. Altho nominally a one-sixth thaler, it is too light and is probably debased as well, being an inflationary issue (1620-24) of the Thirty Years War.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver, this specimen 4.54 g.

Catalog reference: Dietiker 569. Herinek 19, KM 224.
