Sincona sale 47, lot 1872
Northern Italy in 1806

This specimen was lot 1872 in Sincona sale 47 (Zürich, May 2018), where it sold for 225 CHF (about US$270 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"ITALIEN, Königreich, Napoleone I. 1805-1814. 2 Lire 1811 M, Mailand. Vorzüglich. (kingdom of Italy, Napoleon I, 1805-14, two lire of 1811, Milan mint. Extremely fine.)"

This coin was struck in Milan for Napoleon's kingdom of Italy which lasted 1804-1814. The two lire piece matched the French two francs and was struck in some numbers 1807-14. It was also struck in Venice and Bologna.

Recorded mintage: 520,038, a common date.

Specification: 10 g, 0.900 fine silver, 28 mm diameter, this specimen 9.97 g.
