Heritage sale 3019, lot 25265

This specimen was lot 25265 in Heritage sale 3019 (Chicago, April 2012), where it sold for $2,990. The catalog description^[1] noted, "Ferdinand VII gold 8 Escudos 1811-JP, AU53 NGC, imaginary bust type, highly lustrous and appealing with well-struck details and no planchet flaws. Very scarce in this select quality." This coin was minted 1808-11 and, tho not scarce, is priced double the eight escudos of Charles IV.
