Stack's Bowers February 2024 Collector's Choice sale, lot 75734

This specimen was lot 75734 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2024), where it sold for $780. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWITZERLAND. Franc, 1906-B. Bern Mint. NGC MS-65. A blast white example of the type with few scattered marks; attractive." This type was struck 1878-1967 in this alloy at the Bern mint. The design is still in use today tho the coin is now copper-nickel. This specimen is struck to the standard of the French franc of 1866-1920. This is a scarce date but later dates from after World War Two are available for a few dollars in any grade.

Recorded mintage: 700,000 plus specimens.

Specification: 5 g, 0.835 fine silver, 23.2 mm diameter.
