Sincona sale 83, lot 5275

This specimen was lot 5275 in Sincona sale 83 (Zürich, May 2023), where it sold for 400 CHF (about US$535 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "SWITZERLAND, 10 Rappen 1906 B, Bern. Äusserst seltene Erhaltung. NGC MS66. Prachtexemplar. Das neben einem weitern durch NGC höchstbewertete Exemplar (Extremely rare condition, Cabinet piece, Tied with one other for finest certified by NGC)." This type was struck 1879-2015 without change. The 1906 is not rare but more recent issues, minted in larger quantity and extensively saved, are much cheaper.

Recorded mintage: 1,000,000, a common date.

Specification: 3 g, copper-nickel, 19.15 mm diameter.
