SB924-75555r.jpg

This specimen was lot 75555 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $240. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWEDEN. 2 Kronor, 1897-EB. Oscar II. NGC MS-63. This piece offers glossy lustrous fields and satiny devices. Uniform white argent color softened by a hint of champagne toning acquired over its lifetime. Attractive." This type was minted 1890-93, 1897-1900 and 1903-04. This is one of the more common dates but none are cheap in choice condition. The commemorative celebrating the king's silver jubilee (KM 762) is much more common.

Recorded mintage: 207,000.

Specification: 15 g, 0.800 fine silver, 31 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM-761.
