This specimen was lot 25670 in Heritage sale 3026 (Long Beach, October 2013), where it sold for $3,525. The catalog description[1] noted, "Nicholas II gold 7 1/2 Roubles 1897 AГ, Bust left / Crowned double-headed Imperial eagle with date and value, MS63 NGC. Well struck with brilliant luster and surfaces displaying only superficial imperfections." This type was a one year experiment in minting a gold coinage to the French standard; this denomination matched the gold twenty francs; a fifteen rubles (KM Y65) was also issued.

Recorded mintage: 16,229,000.

Specification: 6.45 g, 0.900 fine gold, .186 troy oz AGW.
