This specimen was lot 703 in Sincona sale 89 (Zurich, May 2024), where it sold for 600 CHF (about US$793 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Zürich, Stadt und Kanton, Taler 1715, Zürich. Vorzüglich. Exemplar der Auktion Erwin Dietrich AG 2, Zürich, März 1990, Los 201. (Switzerland, city and canton of Zurich, thaler of 1715, Zurich mint. Extremely fine.)"
This type was struck in Zurich 1713-17 and was one of a series of thalers struck throughout the eighteenth century. Many of the later issues were "city view" thalers. The obverse legend, "MONETA REIPUBLICAE TIGURINAE," means "coin of the Republic of Zurich."
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver, this specimen 27.75 g.
