Sincona sale 12, lot 605

This specimen was lot 605 in Sincona sale 12 (Zurich, October 2013), where it sold for 2,400 CHF (about US$3,104 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "Nicholas I, 1796-1855, 3 Kopecks 1841, Izhora Mint, CM. Minor planchet defects. Third digit in date double struck due to die error. About uncirculated with remaining red mint lustre." The type was struck 1839-47 at Izhora (shown here), St. Petersburg, Suzun and Ekaterinburg.

Recorded mintage: 2,133,000.

Specification: copper, this specimen 32.02 g(?).
