Sedwick sale 25, lot 68

This specimen was lot 68 in Sedwick sale 25 (Winter Park, FL, May 2018), where it sold for $1,547. The catalog description[1] noted, "Seville, Spain, cob 1 escudo, 1614V, PCGS XF45. Very bold and full date (rare thus) on off-center reverse, nearly full shield, crude strike overall. PCGS #36793185." This type was struck 1610-18. Assayer V is known on two escudos for 1611-15. A few milled two escudos were struck at Segovia during this reign.

Specification: 3.38 g, .931 fine gold, this specimen 3.36 grams.
