This specimen was lot 70171 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2021), where it sold for $720. The catalog description[1] noted, "BIAFRA. Pound, 1969. NGC PROOF-67 Cameo. Issued for the 2nd Anniversary of Independence. An attractive Proof with mirrored fields and frosted cameo devices." The suppression of the Biafran revolt was carried out with the maximum destruction of property and life and the region is today part of Nigeria.

Recorded mintage: 3,000.

Specification: 3.99 g, 0.917 fine gold, AGW: 0.1178 oz.
