This specimen was lot 22593 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2020), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel. 24 Mariengroschen, 1829-CVC. Brunswick Mint. Karl II. PCGS MS-66. The catalog description[1] noted, "ZU BRAUNSCHW" variety. Quality that is SCARCELY encountered for the type, this radiating Gem offers stunning brilliance along with a pleasing steel gray tone and some shimmering iridescence. Tied with just one other example as the finest in the PCGS census." This type was struck 1824-29 simultaneously with KM 1102, which had the duke's title abbreviated "ZU BRAUNS". The denomination, equal to a gulden or two-thirds thaler, was last struck in 1834. Its silver content was 7/9 of a Prussian or Brunswick thaler (22.27 g, 0.750 fine) or 5/9 of a convention thaler (28.06 g, 0.833 fine).

Recorded mintage: 34,000 (including KM 1102).

Specification: 13.08 g, 0.933 fine silver.
