Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel 1826-CvC 24 mariengroschen KM-1109
This specimen was lot 3614 in Künker Auction 426 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €155 (about US$220 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRAUNSCHWEIG-WOLFENBÜTTEL, FÜRSTENTUM Karl II., 1815-1830. Selbständige Regierung, 1823-1830. 24 Mariengroschen 1826 CvC. Hübsche Patina, vorzüglich. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, Charles II, 1815-30, after the regency, 1823-30, 24 mariengroschen of 1826. Handsome patina, extremely fine.)"
This type was struck 1824-29 simultaneously with KM 1102, which had the duke's title abbreviated "ZU BRAUNS". The denomination, equal to a gulden or two-thirds thaler, was last struck in 1834. Its silver content was 7/9 of a Prussian or Brunswick thaler (22.27 g, 0.750 fine) or 5/9 of a convention thaler (28.06 g, 0.833 fine).
