This specimen was lot 30719 in Heritage sale 3029 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $763.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Edward VII Florin 1902, MS65 NGC. A very subtle iridescent toning lends itself to wonderful eye-appeal for this coin." This type was struck 1902-10 in respectable numbers but has always been expensive in nice condition. The classic design attracts collectors who would otherwise not purchase British coins. The denomination was converted to copper-nickel in 1947 and ceased in 1967.

Recorded mintage: 2,190,000 plus 15,000 proofs.

Specification: 11.31 g, 0.925 fine silver, .336 troy oz ASW, 28.3 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM 801, S-3981, ESC-919.
