The second specimen was lot 15 in Aureo y Calico sale 233 (Barcelona, April 2011), where it sold for 100 euros (about US$167 including buyer's fee). The second specimen was lot 15 in Aureo y Calicó sale 233 (Barcelona, April 2011), where it sold for 100 euros (about US$167 including buyer's fee). The catalog description[1] noted,

"1838. Segovia. 2 maravedís. Parte de brillo original. Muy bella. Escasa así. S/C-. (Two maravedis of 1838, Segovia mint, part of original luster remaining, handsome, scarce thus, about Uncirculated.)"

This type was struck in Segovia 1836-50 and was accompanied by copper one, four and eight maravedis. The type is not rare but scarce in nice condition. An 1838/1738 overdate is reported.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a better date.
