Künker sale 264, lot 3960

This specimen was lot 3960 in Künker sale 264 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €3,600 (about US$4,651 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SACHSEN-COBURG-GOTHA Carl Eduard, 1900-1918. 10 Mark 1905. Vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (Germany, duchy of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, Charles Edward, 1900-18, ten mark of 1905, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

This type is rare and is accompanied by an equally rare twenty mark (KM 172). The duke abdicated at the end of World War One.

Recorded mintage: 10,000 plus a few proofs.

Specification: 3.98 g, .900 fine gold.
