Sincona sale 70, lot 3676

This specimen was lot 3676 in Sincona sale 70 (Zürich, May 2021), where it sold for 575 CHF (about US$757 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SWITZERLAND | Zurich | Stadt und Kanton. Halbtaler 1732, Zürich. Spruch. Gezackter Rand. Gutes sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Switzerland, canton of Zurich, half thaler of 1732, Zurich mint, motto reverse. Good very fine-extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1723-36, 1739-45, 1748, 1751-61, 1767-68 along with a half thaler with a city view reverse. In 1798, the canton of Zürich was forcibly incorporated into the Helvetic Republic.
