Goldberg sale 80, lot 4525
Russia 1815 ruble rev G80-4525.jpg

This specimen was lot 4525 in Goldberg sale 80 (Los Angeles, June 2014), where it sold for $617. The catalog description[1] noted, "Russia. Ruble, 1815-СПБ МФ. Alexander I. NGC graded About Uncirculated, Details (Surface Hairlines)." This type was struck 1810-26 in large quantities but is today very rare in nice condition. The succeeding type (Dav-282) is very similar but with a modified eagle.

Recorded mintage: 4,750,000 (a fairly common date).

Specification: 20.73 g, 0.868 fine silver.

Catalog reference: Sev-2697; KM C130, Dav-281.
