This specimen was lot 7089 in Ponterio sale 152 (New York, January 2010), where it sold for $4,025. The catalog description[1] noted, "DENMARK. Ducat Courant, 1716-CW. Frederik IV (1699-1730). RARE and exceptional quality. NGC MS-63." The ducat courant was struck in Denmark 1714-16 only and was lighter and lower purity than the standard ducat, which contained about .110 oz of gold. Later ducats courant of the 1780's were slightly heavier.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 2.87 g, 0.875 fine gold, .081 troy oz AGW.
Catalog reference: Fr-221; Sieg-26; H-31; KM 508.
