Denmark 1714-CW ducat Fr-221
This specimen was lot 10329 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €4,440 (about US$4,628). The catalog description[1] noted, "DENMARK. Courant Ducat (2 Rixdaler), 1714-CW. Copenhagen Mint. Frederik IV. NGC AU-58. Scarce date. From the L. E. Bruun Collection." This type was struck 1714-16 along with a half ducat courant (Fr-222) and a double ducat courant. Worth two speciedaler or twelve mark, it was lighter and lower in fineness than a traditional ducat. The "D.M.A." on the reverse stands for "DOMINVS MIHI ADIVTOR", meaning "Aid me O Lord".
