Künker Auction 439, lot 2035

This specimen was lot 2035 in Künker sale 439 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €2,000 (about US$2,752 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DÄNEMARK, KÖNIGREICH Frederik IV., 1699-1730. Kurant-Dukat (2 Rixdaler) 1715, Kopenhagen. Münzmeister Christian Wineke (der Jüngere). GOLD. Sehr seltener Jahrgang. Fast vorzüglich. Exemplar der Sammlung Münzen und Medaillen aus adeligem Privatbesitz. (kingdom of Denmark, Frederick IV, 1699-1730, ducat courant of 1715, Copenhagen mint. Very rare date, about extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1714-16 along with a half ducat courant (Fr-222) and a double ducat courant. Worth two speciedaler or twelve mark, it was lighter and lower in fineness than a traditional ducat. The "D.M.A." on the reverse stands for "DOMINVS MIHI ADIVTOR", meaning "Aid me O Lord".
