This specimen was lot 3144 in Sincona sale 26 (Zürich, October 2015), where it sold for 325 CHF (about US$402 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Charles X. 1824-1830 1/2 Franc 1827. K, Bordeaux. Fast vorzüglich. Überprägungsspuren. (France, Charles X, 1824-K, half franc of 1827, Bordeaux mint. Choice extremely fine, rim nicks.)"
This dime-sized coin was struck at Bordeaux under the régime of king Charles X. It is a scarce date of a type struck 1825-30. It was demonetized in 1869. The catalog[2] notes 54 dates for the type, some very rare. This date is scarce and is not catalogued above Very Fine.
Recorded mintage: 9,585[2].
Specification: 2.5 g, 0.900 fine silver, 18 mm diameter, reeded edge. Designed by Joseph François Domard, 1792-1858, this specimen 2.48 g.
