France 1827-T 2 francs
This specimen was lot 1310 in Jean Elsen sale 145 (Brussels, September 2020), where it sold for €400 (about US$570 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"FRANCE, Charles X (1824-1830), AR 2 francs, 1827T, Nantes. Petits coups. Légèrement nettoyé. Superbe. (kingdom of France, Charles X, 1824-30, silver two francs of 1827, Nantes mint. Minor nicks, lightly cleaned, Extremely Fine.)"
This product of the Nantes mint is a scarce date. All two francs issued prior to 1859, including this one, were demonetized in 1869 to make way for the succeeding issue which was only 0.835 fine.
Recorded mintage: 42,866, scarce.
Specification: 27 mm diameter, 10 grams, 0.900 fine silver, edge lettered DOMINE SALVUM FAC REGEM. Designed by Auguste François Michaut, 1786-1879.
