This specimen was lot 3115 in Sincona sale 26 (Zurich, October 2015), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, <blockquote>"''France, I. Kaiserreich. Napoleon I. 1804-1815 5 Francs 1807. Q, Perpignan. Fast sehr schön'' (France, first Empire, Napoleon I, 1804-15, five francs of 1807, Perpignan mint. Choice very fine.)"</blockquote> Shown is a Napoleonic five francs struck at the Perpignan mint (mint mark "Q") in 1807. It is a scarce date of a somewhat scarce type. The various designs of Napoleonic five francs form eight distinct types of which this is the fifth, struck 1806-07 with a complete set of this type comprising 23 date and mintmark combinations, some very rare. It was officially withdrawn from circulation in 1928 and demonetized in 2005 but ceased to circulate in [[France]] after World War One.

Sincona sale 26, lot 3115

This specimen was lot 3115 in Sincona sale 26 (Zürich, October 2015), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"France, I. Kaiserreich. Napoleon I. 1804-1815 5 Francs 1807. Q, Perpignan. Fast sehr schön (France, first Empire, Napoleon I, 1804-15, five francs of 1807, Perpignan mint. Choice very fine.)"

Shown is a Napoleonic five francs struck at the Perpignan mint (mint mark "Q") in 1807. It is a scarce date of a somewhat scarce type. The various designs of Napoleonic five francs form eight distinct types of which this is the fifth, struck 1806-07 with a complete set of this type comprising 23 date and mintmark combinations, some very rare. It was officially withdrawn from circulation in 1928 and demonetized in 2005 but ceased to circulate in France after World War One.

Specification: 37 mm diameter, 25 grams, 0.900 fine silver, edge lettered DIEU PROTEGE LA FRANCE. Designed by Pierre Joseph Tiolier, 1763-1819; this specimen 24.48 g.

Recorded Mintage: 24,877[2].

Catalog reference: Gadoury 581, Dav-83; F.304/20.
