This specimen was lot 23408 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Las Vegas, August 2020), where it sold for $384. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS. West Friesland. Ducaton, 1780/77. PCGS Genuine--Cleaned, AU Details. A well detailed Ducaton, largely free of toning, free of any overly distracting marks. From the BKingdom Collection." Westfriesland struck this denomination throughout the eighteenth century until 1793. This was the largest silver coin and many subtypes exist. This one was struck 1774-93 and is common. The 1780/77 overdate shown here is not noted in the SCWC, which lists 1780/79 and 1780/76.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 32.78 g, 0.941 fine silver.
