Westfriesland 1782 ducaton Dav-1834
This specimen was lot 23409 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Las Vegas, August 2020), where it sold for $660. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS. West Friesland. Ducaton, 1782. PCGS Genuine--Cleaned, AU Details Gold Shield. A boldly struck example displaying light attractive tone with signs of an old cleaning now slightly subdued. Despite its shortcomings a handsome example of this collectible type with nice detail. From the BKingdom Collection." Westfriesland struck this denomination throughout the eighteenth century until 1793. This was the largest silver coin and many subtypes exist. This one was struck 1774-93 and is common.
