This specimen was lot 76038 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for $840. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS. West Friesland. Ducaton, 1775. Medemblik Mint. NGC AU-53. Only limitedly circulated with alluring brilliance and handsome dusky tone." Westfriesland struck this denomination throughout the eighteenth century until 1793. This was the largest silver coin and many subtypes, overdates (including a 1775/4) and mintmarks exist. This one was struck 1774-75, 1778-93 and is common.
