This issue was minted in Lisbon 1936, 1942 and 1950-51 for the Portuguese colony of Mozambique. It was the second coin of its denomination. The coin is common. This coin was issued a decade before the beginning of the war for independence. The Portuguese withdrew in 1975, triggering a multifactional war that continued for decades.

Recorded mintage: 4,000,000.

Specification: 3.5 g, 0.650 fine silver.
