This issue was minted in Lisbon in 1949-50 for the Portuguese colony of Mozambique. It was the third coin of its denomination. The coin is common. This coin was issued a decade before the beginning of the war for independence. The Portuguese withdrew from Mozambique in 1975, triggering a multifactional war that continued for decades.
