This specimen was lot 33130 in Heritage sale 3094 (Chicago, August 2021), where it sold for $16,200. The catalog description[1] noted, "Austria: Franz Joseph I gold 20 Corona 1913 MS61 NGC, Vienna mint. A fully uncirculated selection of this challenging issue, one of which few quality survivors exist. NGC has seen a mere three examples of the 1913 series to date, and this example ties with one other for the second-finest certified. Semi-watery and flashy in the fields, the offering displays a full strike and particularly crisp reverse details, with only a uniform and gentle dispersal of friction capping the assigned grade." This type was struck 1909-16. 1910 is the only common date, not counting the 1915, which has been restruck. It varies from the prior Fr-508 by having the engraver's signature included and obverse legend uninterrupted.
Recorded mintage: 28,058.
Specification: 6.78 g, 0.900 fine gold, 21 mm diameter.
