This specimen was lot 980 in Steve Album Auction 55 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2026), where it sold for $840. The catalog description[1] noted, "UKRAINE: Republic, AV 20 hryvni, 2000, Monuments of Ancient Cultures of Ukraine Series - Cucuteni–Trypillia Culture, bimetallic issue with 5.74 g gold (.916) center, and 7.8 g silver (.925) ring, struck at the Ukrainian mint, Kyiv, Proof. A clay antroph-amorphous statuette from Volodymyrivka is at center; specimens of ware of Trypillia culture and the commemorative inscription is on the ring." The hryvnia was introduced in 1996 to supersede the Karbovanets (1 hryvnia = 100,000 karbovantsiv). Its sign is "₴". At present (June 2026), US$1 = 45.07 hryven. Other NCLT's of this series include KM 126/Fr-13, KM 128/Fr-15, KM 174/Fr-16 and KM 175/Fr-17. Wikipedia comments, "It was near Trypillia that the archaeologist Vikentiy Khvoyka discovered an extensive Neolithic site of the Cucuteni-Trypillian culture, one of the major Neolithic–Chalcolithic cultures of eastern Europe. Khvoika reported his findings in 1897 to the 11th Congress of Archaeologists, marking the official date of the discovery of this culture."
