This specimen was lot 21527 in Heritage sale 3010 (Boston, August 2010), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "Carlos IIII gold 8 Escudos 1793-FM, KM159, XF45 NGC, a nice lustrous example. From the Don Benito Collection of Hispanic Gold." This type was struck in Mexico 1792-1808 and is the most available of Mexican colonial eight escudos but remains expensive. Assayer FM is noted for the years 1784-1801.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 27.07 g, 0.875 fine gold, .761 troy oz AGW.
