Heritage sale 3076, lot 31491
Baden H3076-31491r.jpg

This specimen was lot 31491 in Heritage sale 3076 (Long Beach, CA, September 2019), where it sold for $1,920. The catalog description[1] noted, "German States: Baden. Friedrich I 2 Mark 1899-G MS65 Prooflike NGC, Stuttgart mint, A deeply toned obverse with a plethora of richly iridescent shades, a lightly champagne-tinged white on the reverse, all of which overlies watery prooflike surfaces. An amazing coin which is a pleasure to admire." This type was struck 1892-1902. Despite the substantial mintage, it is expensive in nice condition. It accompanied a similar five mark. The grand duke died in 1907.

Recorded mintage: 327,061.

Specification: 11.11 g, 0.900 fine silver, reeded edge.

Catalog reference: KM 269.
