Künker sale 264, lot 3843

This specimen was lot 3843 in Künker sale 264 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €375 (about US$485 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BADEN Friedrich I. 1852-1907. 20 Mark 1894. Vorzüglich. (grand duchy of Baden, Frederick I, 1852-1907, twenty mark of 1894, extremely fine.)"

This twenty mark was issued 1894-95 and is the last twenty mark of this ruler, whose successor, Friedrich II, issued twenty mark 1911-14. It is common.

Recorded mintage: 400,000 plus proofs.

Specification: 7.96 g, 0.900 fine gold.
