This specimen was lot 40 in Künker Auction 423 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €2,400 (about US$3,399 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"HABSBURGISCHE ERBLANDE-ÖSTERREICH · RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Erzherzog Ferdinand, 1564-1595. Guldentaler (60 Kreuzer) 1574, Hall. Geharnischtes Hüftbild r. mit Erzherzogshut und umgelegter Kette des Ordens vom Goldenen Vlies, mit der Rechten das Zepter schulternd, die Linke am Schwertgriff, am rechten Arm eine flatternde Schleife, unten die Wertzahl 60//Mehrfeldiges Wappen (Ungarn, Böhmen / Kastilien und León / Österreich und Burgund), mit Mittelschild (Tirol), umher die Kette des Ordens vom Goldenen Vlies, oben die Jahreszahl · I574 ·. Von großer Seltenheit. Vorzüglich. Exemplar der Auktion Lanz 61, München 1992, Nr. 37. (Holy Roman Empire, archduke Ferdinand, 1564-95, guldenthaler or sixty kreuzer of 1574, Hall mint. Obverse: armored and capped half-length bust with order chain holding a sword and scepter, fluttering ribbon on the right arm, value below; reverse: manifold arms of Hungary, Bohemia, Castile, Leon, Austria and Burgundy with the escutcheon of Tyrol, Order chain around, date above. Extremely rare, extremely fine.)"
During this decade, the gulden diverged from the thaler, remaining at sixty kreuzer while the thaler rose to 72 kreuzer. The Hapsburgs minted guldenthalers at Hall (shown here), Vienna, Kuttenberg, Joachimsthal, Prague and elsewhere.
