This specimen was lot 30360 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2022), where it sold for $8,400. The catalog description[1] noted, "DENMARK. Ducat, ND (1696). Copenhagen Mint. Christian V. PCGS MS-61. A fairly SCARCE and seldom seen equestrian type, the present example delights with shimmering brilliance and only a few scattered marks. Pale yellow overall and with a design that seemingly leaps off from the planchet." Other Danish ducats for 1696 include KM 415.3, KM 433 and KM 443. All are rare. This one was struck using half ducat dies.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 3.49 g, 0.979 fine gold.
Catalog reference: Fr-182; KM-444.
