This specimen was lot 653 in Künker Auction 424 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €100 (about US$142 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DEUTSCHE MÜNZEN UND MEDAILLEN · PASSAU, BISTUM Johann Philipp von Lamberg, 1689-1712. 2 Kreuzer (1/2 Batzen) 1694, Regensburg. Sehr schön. (Germany, John Philip of Lamberg, 1689-1712, two kreuzer or half batzen of 1694, Regensburg mint.)"
This type was also struck in 1699. By this time, two kreuzer made 1/45 of a thaler. John Philip (1651-1712) was promoted to cardinal in 1700 and finished the St. Stephens cathedral in the town. The bishopric of Passau was annexed to Bavaria in 1803 and 1805.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specifications: silver or billon, this specimen 1,53 g.
