NGC VF-25. A very early example of cob coinage for the denomination. A super looking original example of the issue with just enough tone to set-off the devices with contrast. Tops of date run off the flan. Pedigree: From the David O'Harrow Collection." This specimen is a silver cob half real struck at Mexico City 1598-1621. Specimens with clear dates are unusual. In 1728, cobs were debased from .931 to 0.917 fine silver.
