This specimen was lot 411 in Áureo y Calicó sale 347 (Barcelona, March 2020), where it sold for €300 (about US$395 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"1844. Isabel II. Barcelona. 6 cuartos. Flores de 5 pétalos. Mínimas impurezas. Muy bella. Gran parte de brillo original. Ex Colección Isabel de Trastámara 29/10/2015, nº 968. Muy rara así. S/C-. (kingdom of Spain, Isabel II, six cuartos of 1844, Barcelona mint, flowers of five petals, minor flaws, very handsome, most of the original luster, very rare thus, about uncirculated.)"
This copper coin was issued from Barcelona for use there and in Catalonia. It was struck 1836-48 and accompanied by a copper three quartos. In the local currency, six quartos = 1/20 peso. This coin is not common but priced rather low in the SCWC. The last local Catalan issue is a rare six quartos dated 1848. For this date, varieties exist in the flowers in the wreath: this example has five petalled flowers, others have seven petals.
