Aureo y Calicó sale 447, lot 1118

This specimen was lot 1118 in Aureo y Calicó sale 447 (Barcelona, March 2025), where it sold for 550 € (about US$719 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "Catholic Monarchs. Toledo. 1 real. Obv.: Coat of arms, T below. FERNANDVS:ET hELISABET-DE. Rev.: Coat of arms between · and ·. +DOMINVS:MICh:ADIVTOR:ET-NO:. Prior to Pragmatica. Dings. Scarce. MBC/MBC+ [very fine or better]. Ex Isabel de Trastamara collection 12/13/2018, no. 1220." This design, with shields on both sides, was used in Spain until 1497. The later one reales, with a yoke and a bundle of arrows, are much more common. The Toledo mint struck this type with four different privy marks; this example appears to have no privy mark.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver, this specimen 3.25 g.

Catalog reference: Cayón-2727, AC-451.
