Künker sale 354, lot 6626

This specimen was lot 6626 in Künker sale 354 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €4,400 (about US$6,124 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"WEIMARER REPUBLIK. 3 Reichsmark 1933, G. Kursmünze. Sehr selten in dieser Erhaltung. Prachtexemplar. Winz. Kratzer, polierte Platte. (Germany, Weimar Republic, three mark of 1933, value reverse. Very scarce in this quality, choice example, minor scratches, proof.)"

The SCWC notes that less than ten percent of this issue of 1931-33 was released; it is seldom seen today. This specimen is from the Karlsruhe mint and is the rare date.

Recorded mintage: 152,000, the key date.

Specification: 15 g, 0.500 fine silver, .239 troy oz ASW, 30 mm diameter.
