This specimen was lot 1034 in Sincona sale 85 (Zürich, October 2023), where it sold for 800 CHF (about US$1,077 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"IRAN, Nasir al-Din Shah, 1264-1313 AH (1848-1896). 1/2 Toman 1297 AH (1880 AD), Tehran Mint. Bust type. Rare. NGC MS61. From the Kian collection, auction SINCONA 49, October 2018, lot 19. Finest certified by NGC."
With the coming of the milled coinage, all of the branch mints were closed and all production was completed in Tehran. The SCWC lists this scarce type for AH 1297-1313. One thousand dinars made a kran and ten kran made a toman. The largest silver coin was the five krans.
