Sincona sale 89, lot 560

This specimen was lot 560 in Sincona sale 89 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 700 CHF (about US$925 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHLAND Bayern, Herzogtum, seit 1623 Kurfürstentum, Maximilian I. 1598-1651. Taler 1628, München. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Gutes vorzüglich. Feine Patina. Exemplar der Auktion Münzen und Medaillen AG 71, Basel, Mai 1987, Los 265. (Germany, electorate of Bavaria, Maximilian I, 1598-1651, thaler of 1628, Munich mint. Rare in this condition, Good extremely fine, Nicely toned.)"

This type was struck 1627-31 and 1637; it is the only Bavarian thaler of 1628.
