This specimen was lot 589 in Jean Elsen sale 115 (Brussels, December 2012) where it sold for €45 (about US$69 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"TOURNAI, Seigneurie, Philippe II (1555-1598), restauré, AR vingtième d'écu Philippe, 1593, Droit: Ecu couronné, entouré du collier de la Toison d'or. Revers: Croix fleuronnée. Petites taches au revers. Ex HSA 18519. Très Beau. (lordship of Tournai, Philip II restored (1555-98), silver twentieth écu of 1593. Obverse: crowned arms, Order of the Golden Fleece around; reverse: floriate cross. Rim nicks on the reverse, very fine.)"
This coin, along with similar tenth écus and fifth écus, seems to be the first fumbling attempt at a decimal coinage. However, the reported weight seems to match that of a tenth écu.
Reported Mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver, this specimen 3,31 g.
