This specimen was lot 3877 in Sincona sale 9 (Zurich, October 2012), where it sold for 325 CHF (about US$411 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, <blockquote>"''DEUTSCHLAND Württemberg, 1806 Königreich Friedrich II. (I.), 1797-1816. Kronentaler 1812. Sehr schön.'' (Kingdom of Wurttemberg, Frederick II (I), crown thaler of 1812, very fine.)"</blockquote>  This type was struck 1812 only and is scarce to rare as are most Wurttemberg thalers before 1825 (see [[Wurttemberg 1825 thaler Dav-954|Dav-954]]). The rather thuggish portrait cannot have pleased the new king.
