This specimen was lot 3307 in Sincona sale 83 (Zurich, May 2023), where it sold for 6,500 CHF (about US$8,699 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "Utrecht, Provinz, Cavalier d'or 1607/6, Utrecht. Goldener Reiter - Grote gouden rijder. Selten. NGC UNC Details. Leicht gereinigt. Aus dem Lager der Schweizerischen Kreditanstalt, Zürich, November 1994 (province of Utrecht, gold cavalier of 1607, Utrecht mint, 1607/6 overdate. Rare, Lightly cleaned)." The cavalier d'or was struck by Utrecht (shown here), Overijssel (KM 16, struck 1606 and 1616-20), Holland (KM 19, struck 1606-32), Gelderland (KM 18, struck 1606-28), Friesland (KM 25, struck 1607-28), Westfriesland (KM 27, struck 1621-27), Zeeland (KM 18, sporadic issues 1606-44) and Zwolle (KM 51, 1644 only). Despite what seems to be an extensive issue the coin is rare from any province. Utrecht may be the commonest as it is the only issue with a photo in the SCWC.
