Gelderland 1607 1/2 cavalier d'or Fr-241
This specimen was lot 33818 in Heritage sale 3114 (New York, January 2024), where it sold for $2,640. The lot description[1] noted, "Netherlands: Gelderland. Provincial gold 1/2 Cavalier d'Or (1/2 Gold Rider) 1607 MS61 NGC. While not as difficult to locate as the full Gold Rider, the piece at hand remains elusive at this stage of preservation, punctuated by ample flash, a largely complete strike, and a light amber tinge to the periphery. From the Coenen Collection." This type is listed for 1606-08, 1613-25 and 1641-44 along with a full gouden rijder. Demi-cavalier d'or is the French name for this coin.
