The first specimen was lot 32022 in Heritage sale 3076 (Long Beach, CA, September 2019), where it sold for $3,000. The catalog description[1] noted, "Utrecht. Provincial gold Imitative Rose Noble ND (c. 1600-1601) MS61 NGC. A bold representative of the type, struck on a broad and lustrous golden flan near the turn of the century of what would later become known as the "Dutch Golden Age". The strike shows a light case of doubling, apparently isolated in the face of the standing figure. An overall beautiful example worthy of close collector attention." The second specimen was lot 31074 in Heritage sale 3081 (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $4,320. The catalog description[2] noted, "Netherlands: Utrecht. Provincial gold Imitative Rose Noble ND (c. 1600-1602) MS63 NGC. Intensely appealing for its assigned grade, a popular imitative type from the 'Dutch Golden Age'. Its flan slightly wavy as-made, some minor areas of weakness but otherwise a perfect representative of the issue with copious golden luster." This rose noble, an imitation of an English gold coin of the fifteenth century, was accompanied by a half noble (Fr-179).

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 7.80 g, 0.986 fine gold; this specimen 7.53 g.

Catalog reference: KM 6, Fr-277.
