JEan Elsen sale 139, lot 1041

This specimen was lot 1041 in Jean Elsen sale 139 (Brussels, December 2018), where it sold for €750 (about US$1,001 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"NEDERLAND, UTRECHT, Provincie, AV dukaat met de ridder, 1606. Vz/ Staande ridder n.r. met zwaard en pijlenbundel. Kz/ Tekst in versierd vierkant. Zeer Fraai à Prachtig. (Netherlands, province of Utrecht, gold ducat of 1606. Obverse: standing knight with sword and bundle of arrows; reverse: text in four lines. Very Fine - Extremely Fine.)"

This type was struck in Utrecht steadily from 1587 to 1794 without any significant design change.
